Fully Interactive 3D World for IBM's Smarter Planet Campaign

Here you can read a blog post about the first project I worked on when I joined my current company. Needless to say how proud I am about what we did. The final product is solid, beautiful and runs really fast. With IBM as the final client, it couldn't be less than that.

A short summary about the technology behind the scenes: Java Swing rendering 3D Studio Max objects. We used the jMonkey Engine library for the rendering, although we modified it in few places (I love ya Open Source!). I can't give details about the backend system for security purposes.

A short paragraph from the initial blog post:
While it might sound over the top, the business goal driving this project was to help enable IBM’s flagship campaign to directly impact their bottom line, allowing their customers and prospective customers to relate the Smarter Planet messaging to actual products and services- not just a cool marketing campaign. So in this sense, the tool that CSN recently built for IBM is all about sales enablement.
Right now I'm working on the mobile version of the application, which is going to be available for Android, iPhones and Blackberries. The product is being developed using pure HTML5. Very cool and challenging!

Stay tuned and I might get authorization to share some screenshots.
